Explosion
This image is from an
animation of a cube (actually 98 smaller cubes arranged to make
a 5x5 cube with a 3x3 cube removed from the center) exploding. This was
rendered using
POVAFX 1.0 patches to POV-Ray by Marcos Fajardo. 200 glowing
lights were used to make the explosion. These were individually moved and
cooled (from being white, to yellow, red, and finally black) by a QBASIC
program which also was responsible for moving/spinning the fragments of the
original cube. 300 frames were rendered which were then averaged together
to get the final 100 frame animation. The fragments look distorted because
of the very wide angle camera used. This animation took about 9 hours 30
minutes on a Pentium 90.
